The Pin Ladder Lock weighs in at just over 8 grams and offers an absurdly durable alternative to plastic buckles — installed without any sewing. This CNC machined aluminum buckle is lighter than many plastic buckles while delivering much higher strength.
Three installation options:
- Pins come uninstalled (for retrofit) — Press pins in through existing webbing loops using a bench vise or Knipex Plier Wrench. No sewing required.
- Pins come installed (requires sewing) — For new bag builds. Sew webbing loops around the installed pins.
- Screw Variant — Uses an M3 screw to retain the pins. Comes with an Allen key. Can be removed and reinstalled on a new bag later.

I bought these because my dog chewed some buckles on my Bedrock Clogs. I was pretty worried I’d have to send them in and as luck would have it I stumbled on these buckles. They were relatively easy to install but I would definitely buy the Knipex pliers to make it easy. They look great and are way more durable, which is great if you have a dog known to chew buckles. My only wish is that there would be a few more colors in the line up or a “screw in” option.
I removed the plastic buckles on my new Mountainsmith’s sling bag and upgraded to the 3/4 pin ladder lock.
Easy to install on an existing bag with the press fit pins so there was no need to cut and mend the bag. The orange color is a nice accent piece for a functional piece of hardware.
I order the 3/4 for a repair. I like my 3/4 so much I ordered the 1” after as a replacement on my everyday bag. Great product!
