The Pin Ladder Lock weighs in at 5.8 grams. This CNC machined aluminum buckle is lighter than many plastic buckles but is seriously durable. Unlike plastic, it doesn't get brittle in the cold, and we think it's easier on the eyes as well.
This buckle makes a great bag upgrade or bag repair as you can retrofit it to an existing bag without doing any sewing! If you order the buckle with the pins uninstalled, using a bench-vise or the Knipex Plier Wrench (one of our favorite tools) you can press the pins into place through webbing loops on an existing bag. See the video below for installation instructions.
These buckles are sold individually.
- Designed for 3/4" webbing
- 1" Wide x 1" Long
- 5.78 grams
- Machined from billet aluminum

Ordered a 20mm ladder lock and it does not fit my 20mm webbing. I wish it did because it would have been exactly what I was looking for. Also prices are a little high
These make an awesome upgrade to your plastic hardware
The plastic buckle on my soft seat bag slipped. Replacing it was easy. It no longer slips and the Austere buckle looks cool, too.
There were zero issues with the ITW style burly ladder locks on my Mystery Ranch Bridger 45. The same hardware is proven in firefighter or military use and I had no need to replace them, however the idea just stuck in my head that I needed these Austere ladder locks and finally I took the plunge with my belt order and picked up a set. Easily installed and look amazing, and it just gives me those jollies you get when your gear does what you need it to and looks good, inspires confidence and motivates you to use it! I’ll probably pick up a set for my Acre Supply Hauser 14 at some point, again just cause, but it’s nice to know these components will outlive the bag, and probably me. They’re awesome. They’re not cheap, for sure, but if you end up buying them, there won’t be any buyer’s remorse once you get them on!
I broke one of the plastic clips on my handlebar bag during the first day of The Adirondack Trail Ride and used one of your 3/4" Cam straps as a temporary fix. I have now permanently repaired the bag with your 3/4" pin ladder locks and it's better than ever.
